Working with Julie has been a breath of fresh air. She takes a whole health approach and breaks down the barriers. I feel knowledgeable, supported and understood on a personal level. Getting here has been a profound trip for sure but I am building on the things she has taught me to advocate for my future. Feeling better moving better, and supporting my body has never felt so good. Not to mention I can eat without so much shame and guilt. Thank you !

Working with Julie at Soal Wellness helped me to dig down to the core of my eating habits. We started with basic day to day goals with no shame even when I would "accidentally" eat a bag or two of Cheetos. She gave me simple delicious recipes and got me cooking with fresh foods. I never thought I would kick my lifelong addiction to Diet Pepsi but with Julie's gentle urging I was able to quit! Julie's understanding and encouragement helped me to achieve a healthier lifestyle.

Dr. Julie is very knowledgeable and great at what she does. I came in with concerns about my general health and wondering what it was I needed to meet my physical fitness goals and gain some muscle mass. Dr. Julie took the time to sit with me and talk about my history, current symptoms, and goals and then came up with an individualized plan of what I would need to accomplish my goals. She was thorough and explained everything. It can be hard to find a doctor that cares this much but she truly does. I highly recommend her if you have concerns about your health and goals with your weight or fitness.

We do not accept insurance. We find that by providing services on a cash pay basis, we are able to provide a higher level of service and satisfaction for our clients.

Medical weight loss can be very successful if it is used as a tool like it is intended to be. Taking medication to help alleviate hunger and boost metabolism coupled with a large support system, will go a long way to help patients lose weight and keep it off. These are just tools that can help boost the effort that is put in by the patient.

If the patient puts in very little effort, then they will find very little success with their program. Likewise, if the patient puts forth a significant amount of effort and follows their diet and exercise program diligently, they will find great success with medical weight loss treatments.

Yes! We can accept both FSA & HSA accounts.

Discovery calls are a great time to get to know each other and for us to learn what YOUR individual needs are. We know that relationships are essential to the growth and development phase of weight loss and health optimization and we want you to know we only take clients that are 100% right for our process.

A one-time functional medicine appointment can be scheduled for Arizona residents, to determine the appropriateness of your continued care and needs. If ongoing care is recommended a package will be suggested that fits your exact health and wellness needs.

Top Five Health Tips for Weight Loss

Want to know my top 5 tips to decrease inflammation and fight resistant weight loss? I have to tell you though, these are actually the top 5 health tips that I give to most of my clients and patients who are looking to lose weight or correct a chronic health problem.

Why these tips you might ask? Well these 5 health behaviors impact your ability to feel well and achieve both your long term and short term health goals and offer a huge impact for a relatively easy, low risk and low cost.

Whether you are looking to drop your last 5 pounds or just starting your health journey, follow along and read the top 5 reasons why you might still be struggling with resistant weight loss, bloating and inflammation.

1 - Drink Enough Water
Most people really don’t take this recommendation as seriously as they should, and often it’s one of the easiest ways to decrease overconsumption of calories, promote cellular health, eliminate toxins, and improve digestion. So how much water should you drink? There are numerous recommendations and obviously, a number of factors, to account for when we consider just how much water a person should be drinking. You should factor in your activity level, weather, and illness, as these factors all influence your water needs. In general, women should be drinking about 2.5 liters/day and men about 3.5 liters.
2 - Read every nutrition label
I know this sounds like a big task if you’ve never read or looked at the nutrition label on your food. I’m going to go big and bold here and tell you that no one is looking out for your health but you. It’s up to you and only you to determine what is GOOD enough for you to eat and put in your body. No one and certainly not the food producers are looking out for your health. I never look at the calorie content in a product. Perhaps I will look at the serving size if this is a snack of some sort like chips or cookies. What I look at instead is sugar. Especially added sugar. A good rule of thumb is if an item has more than 10-12 grams of sugar, I won’t purchase it. It’s not uncommon to find 20 grams or more of sugar in processed food items and 39 grams of sugar in just one can of coca-cola. That leads us to the next tip.

3 - Get added sugar out of your life
Remember that tip to avoid products with more than 10-12 grams of sugar? Well, I’m going to suggest that if you find any products like this in your pantry or fridge that you should throw them out. I’m not kidding. Throw it in the trash and never buy it again. It is making you fat and sick. In telling you to avoid sugar, I am also not suggesting that you should instead choose zero sugar or calorie-free sweeteners. In fact, it’s the exact opposite. I don’t recommend any low-calorie products. Instead, sugar should be eaten only in very small quantities and completely avoided by those with underlying health problems like metabolic syndrome, obesity, and autoimmune disorders
4 - Cook your own food
This may seem like a big ask. Maybe you’re busy. Maybe you have a full-time job, two kids, a side hustle and a house to clean…. Oh wait that’s me! I get it. I really do, but it’s one task that I do not outsource. It’s critical to my health and the health of my children, that I know absolutely every ingredient that passes our plates. Remember that I told you no one is looking out for your health and actually the food companies’ goal is to get you to buy as much of their product as they possibly can. So they fill your plate with empty calories and in the process ruin your health and depress your mood. You hate the way you look and feel and can’t figure out why. So I am here to say for goodness sake, take your power back. Your power to choose how you feel lies on your plate. If you have the funds and means to buy prepared foods there are some excellent companies I highly recommend and use myself to ease my time and pleasure in the kitchen.
5 - Surround yourself with people who are like minded and are pursuing similar interests and goals
Here’s the deal, you are the average of the five people you spend most of your time with, says Jim Rohn. Those people will likely be pushing you to greater places or holding you back. Who are your five? Think of the five most important/influential people in your life. The people you look to for advice or even those you go to for advice or a chat when you feel your best or worst. Now give each person a score from 1-10. 1 being the least and 10 being the most positive influence. How would you like to change and are these people holding you back? I’m not suggesting that you drop any friends or family members but I am suggesting that you surround yourself with women or men who will cheer you on and help you be the best version of yourself is essential to meeting your health and wellness goals. So there you have it MY top 5 health tips for weight loss and inflammation that I give my closest friends, clients, and dearest email subscribers. Looking for more great tips?
